What is the best way to redirect stores' input to a newly built warehouse?

Post by bycomet »

I already have many stores of the same type, and the factory's production capacity can't keep up with the stores' sales. So I built a second factory, then built a warehouse to consolidate the two factories' products. The problem is, how can I quickly change the stores' input from the first factory to the new warehouse?

In COO's policy, there is a warehouse preference setting, but I found it mainly works when the warehouse is built before the stores. It doesn't work in my situation above.
I also allow COO to find better supply from own firms and set low supply tolerance to the lowest level, but the stores would rather remain out of stock than change their input to the warehouse.

Currently, I have two methods to make the adjustment:
1. Manually click on each store and adjust the input for each product. But this is too much work. Imagine having to adjust 50 stores, each with 4 products, plus other types of stores to adjust!
2. Build the warehouse and start storing factory goods, then delete the factory's output. This will cause stores to look for an alternative input (to the warehouse). Then, re-establish factory's output and link to the warehouse. But this will reset the factory's output level.

There is a "redirect supply link" button when clicking output unit, but this only works for already disconnected connections (shown in red), and cannot be used for connections that are out of stock.

Please make use of this tip.

You can change everything at a single store.

P.S. The interface may look different from the screenshot due to patches, but the key point is to use the “Batch” button in the supplier search function.

A brilliant design! Wish I had known about it before my thousands of mouse clicks.
