Land prices

Post by jondonnis »

I don't know if it's inflation that is affecting my game (maybe I shouldn't of switched it on as I've never really understood it). But land prices just seem to be constantly going up and up. This is then having an affect on natural resources meaning they are becoming so stupidly expensive to build on to mine, that it's pointless. This is causing not only mean but a lot of the AI to seemingly ignore the resources.

There is one patch of Chemical Minerals that started off at roughly $150m or $200m land cost charge. Yet now, 37 years later, that same spot costs $869mil to build on, making it seemingly pointless to mine.

With inflation on, prices should increase for everything, but it masks the "real" or true cost. If the mine costs $800+million, how much can you sell chemical materials for? It should still be profitable if you have good demand for the resource. A 4x increase in 37 years isn't that bad, land here in Los Angeles has gone up by much much more than that over the past 37 years. I know of some "old" people who purchased homes for less than 100k that are worth 1 million+ now. But the prices of everything else has increased too. Gone are the days of $0.05 coke and when a penny could actually buy you something. That's inflation. I always have inflation turned off so that I can determine values easier but turning it on is more realistic.

Yes I discovered before I gave in for the night last night :) that it was inflation. How did I discover this? Well it appears it got so bad the bank reset all money as is mentioned on the main site new features. And my $2bill company dropped to $200mil :)

I think I might turn inflation off next time as I assume their is no way to stop it going up? With it on it looks like it's gonna be harder to make the Billionaire 100 list.

Inverse inflation I would never play with but just inflation I think is good.

Neither should make much difference except that it makes it harder for you to calculate and figure out if you've actually made a profit or not on certain assets like land and stocks. I play with inflation off just for simplicity, but might try it the next game, you just have to adjust to the notion that $1 today and $100 30 years from now are worth the same. So if you bought a stock for $1 and 30 years later it's at $100, you've actually made zero profit. (Numbers are just made up as an example)

Land charges are really fluctuating but it is maximum times increasing only and it is best to take some experienced person advice, so i would suggest you to take advice of operating agreement for llc Florida as she is the best to guide you.
