Would it be possible to separate Digital World DLC from Real World mod?

Post by Antonin1957 »

Real World has many products that I would like to have in my game, but it won't run without the Digital World DLC. Even when I specify at the start of a new game that computer products should be excluded, most companies still produce and sell computers and software products. This leaves my company as the only one producing everything else.

Most of the competitors build multiple software R&D facilities, multiple computer factories and multiple computer stores. They even build computer software stores side by side by side.

Would it be possible to decouple Digital World from the Real World mod?

I am running the latest version of Capitalism Lab.

Go to your mod folder and find the realworld txt file. Remove DLC Requirement.

Thanks, but I've been trying unsuccessfully to do as you suggested. The Real World mod folder appears to be zipped, and when I try to save the txt file, that mod folder doesn't even appear.

How do you save something inside a zipped folder?

What exactly is your goal are you just trying to get more products cuz I've got products. I've also got the real world mod torn up all over my desktop so if it's the whole thing you want I could probably whip something up quick when I get home from work. I don't think there is an updated real world mod anybody can tear apart right now I had to take an older one and update it

Thank you very much for your reply.

I want to play Real World because I love the large number of products. But when I do play using the Real World mod, all of the competitor companies produce and sell only software and computers. Computer stores and software stores pop up all over every city. Sometimes the same company builds computer stores side by side by side.

None of the AI companies produce any of the other products. No coffee, no rice packs, no liquor, nothing. My company is the only one that competes in those product areas.

What I want is competition in a variety of products. There is no point in having a Real World mod with dozens of products if the AI companies will only produce computers and software. I have said this on Reddit. Even when I exclude computers as a product area, the AI companies still produce computers and software.

I feel guilty if you are spending time tearing apart Real World. You don't need to do that. I don't play this game much any more, and when I do I just play vanilla, the same way I played Capitalism II 20-plus years ago.

I just don't understand why Real World has to be coupled with the Digital Age DLC or whatever it's called.

The AI issue can be resolved using scripts to limit the AI. I had issues with that when I first started playing but have not felt like that since using scripts. I have the real world mod torn up cause I wanted products but I don't want these money hording rip you off companies in my game world. Then I decided I didn't really like the business one that works like the mall. I didn't like the hotels and then I started feeling I was only the American playing this game because almost none of those products are popular here or named right. I just made an app that builds product databases perfectly with a modern design so I can either whip you that real world mod or you can hang tight while I figure out what I'm doing and where Im gonna put this thing here in the next couple days. Oh and I am waiting on permission for image use and stuff.
