Cities.DBF data

Post by alpha117 »

I've added the LAT and LON to the cities used in this example (cities.dbf)

H = Hamburg
S = Seattle
M = Manchester (UK)
Mos = Moscow

Image

1. the cities are not in the real-world relationship to each other, even with the LAT and LON entered

what it should be is (from the left to right)
H= Seattle
S = Manchester
M = Hamburg
Mos = Moscow

2. IS the scaling (distance correct on the Map) correct? EG, Is Seattle to close to Manchester (UK)?

3. How does this effect the freight costs between cities. EG, should the freight costs be less between Manchester and Hamburg than Seattle and Moscow?

4. What positive effect does the LAT and LON have when entered in the cities DBF?

i think the long+lat of the city.dbf was only for regular games without CES DLC as you got on games without CES the worldmap
would be great if on day the games with CES would use those world map too

OK, so the freight costing between cities potentially could be wrong, if using the map distance between cities.

EG

If I have a Factory in Seattle and Warehouse in Manchester the freight cost would be less than a factory in Seattle and a warehouse in Moscow?

sorry cant answer that, i ve already posted a request to get infos about how the logistcs costs/revenue etc are calculated as it helps to mod stuff the right way without the oldschool try n fail attempts until you figured the algorithm out yaself.

Yes, they scale. The dev team confirmed that.

The distance between two cities are calculated using this formula: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euclidean_distance

Please see: https://www.capitalismlab.com/mod/advan ... ng-cities/ which explains that.

That's correct.
