Request: Fix My Save (Allocation Error)

Post by CallMeIcely »

Save Game & Auto Copy: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CJf6l3 ... sp=sharing
Game Date of Issue: ~ 10/20
Game Version: Post-Release Beta: 8.2.08

Hello All,

Long-time player apparently I haven't had a broken save since 2/12/2023 but I have a new one for my current game. I have tired to open the automatic save and get an error, tired going back to a previous save and as I approach the game date of 10/20 error continues to reoccur. For those who remember me I like building a conglomerate and I play the post-release betas until I lose my save and I have to start over.

Please fix my save so I can continue running my organization.

Please upgrade to the latest version 10.0.52 which fixes the bug: viewtopic.php?t=9716

Please note that save games from versions earlier than v10.0.0 are not compatible with the latest version.

Unfortunately, due to the significant changes between your savegame's version 8.2.28 and v10.0.53, it's technically not possible to fix or update your existing save game. We encourage you to start a new game with the updated version to experience the latest features and improvements.

You can see the full list of improvements version 10.0 and 9.0 at https://www.capitalismlab.com/recent-versions/

No!!!!!

I really wish yall could stop the incompatibility. It sucks. For 1 reason is that you can't really test the game until you have reached an enterprise the size that I have in my save. That's where flaws and features really start to show. Then in the post-release often a new post-release beta breaks a save. Really should limit this.

But I'll just move to newest post-release beta and proceed from there.

Hi Gary,

Post-release betas are by nature instable and subject to more frequent changes in save game formats, thus having a higher probability of save game compatibility issues. I suggest that you use the Release version which is version 10, instead of post-release beta v11.0.

You can download version 10 from viewtopic.php?t=9716

By the way, any chances that you might resume updating your CapLab fan site in the near future?

Cheers

Nah working on some other stuff would need some help to maintain it but a fan site is definitely needed. I tend to like to try out the post-release betas so I can check out new features and I believe the release versions be forcing me to update when a new release comes out but with post-release I can run it with no problem for a long-period of time.

Release versions only do auto-patching when there are serious bugs that needed fixed immediately and they mostly only do so when savegame formats are not affected. So release versions maintain save game compatibility much better than post-release beta versions.

FYI: https://www.capitalismlab.com/support-faq/

Q: How can I disable auto patching in the Capitalism Lab Launcher?

Place a dummy file called no_auto_patch.txt file into your Capitalism Lab folder. When Capitalism Lab Launcher detects the file, it will no longer perform auto patching.
To create no_auto_patch.txt, simply open Notepad and save the empty text as no_auto_patch.txt into your Capitalism Lab folder.
(To find the folder location of Capitalism Lab , right-click on the Capitalism Lab icon on your Windows desktop and select “Open file location” from the pop-up menu.)
