Transferring saved games to a newer version

I've got some saved games on Version 6.6.20 that I'd like to transfer to Version 6.8.03 Beta. Is there some way to do it? I tried pasting some files in Save folders, but it didn't work. I'd appreciate any help. I'm a perpetual newbie, so please be very simple and basic. Sorry if this has already been answered, but I have a hard time coping with forums, along with everything else on computers and the internet.
