With some of these new products, does that mean you will be introducing the idea of substitute goods?
Also, arent tablet computers essentially palmtop computers anyway?

tablets are midway between laptops and palmtops...
while smartphones are essentially palmtops with phone capability

Hi David
Another couple of ideas. Since you are looking at increasing the number of available product types, Ive always felt that automobiles have been neglected with only 2 types (Cars and bikes)
I think it would be good to increase this by 2 to 4.
I had a couple of suggestions:
1) New categories: Scooters and Electric Cars
2) Differentiated categories: Luxury Cars and 4WD's

Enhanced Product Simulation
Existing products will be phased out by new products. Here are a few examples:
• Mobile phones will be phased out by smart phones.
• Camera and camera films will be phased out by digital cameras.
• Sales of notebook computers will be negatively affected by increasing popularity of tablet computers.

wow, cool tech products
i like the idea of phasing-out as well...
here comes a question:
Let's use smartphones as an example...
We know that smartphones are palmtops plus mobile phones, with additional technologies of its own.
Would/Should the production tech of palmtops and mobile phones affect the production tech of smartphones?
At least when they were first "invented" ?
