Capitalism 2 and Capitalism Lab Forum

Hello everyone,

I would like to share a small project I started: **OmegaLab / CapLabWorkbrench**.

OmegaLab is an experimental translation workbench designed to help with **Capitalism Lab** translation workflows.

The idea came partly from **Torajiro’s translation tool**, which inspired me to explore a broader and more flexible solution.

One practical reason I began this project is that the original .exe did not run on my Ubuntu system. While looking for alternatives, I also discovered that I genuinely enjoy creating software tools with the help of AI.

Main goals of OmegaLab:

- easier retrieval of translation strings from spreadsheets
- OmegaT-style workflow ideas
- translation reuse
- support for collaborative translation work
- practical utilities for translators

The most interesting parts so far are:

1. Sheet Retrieval
2. Copy OmegaT / OmegaT-style workflow
3. Shared Google Sheets translation workflow

Translators are strongly encouraged to add, improve and maintain translations there.

Current status:

OmegaLab is still experimental.
Some modules already work, others are prototypes or ongoing tests.

Current branches:

- V7 = most feature-rich version
- V5 = stable reference
- Premium = early alpha with useful ergonomics
- Claude V1 = untested but interesting layout ideas

My goal is not to merge everything blindly, but to keep what works, test features properly, and gradually build something useful for the community.

By the way, the dev team just rolled out the Capitalism Lab Version 12.0.60 Release Candidate today. You can download the new version now from https://www.capitalism2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10642

It would be very helpful if you could help test the French translation, which was done by AI in this version, to see if there are any issues and help fix them. Common issues such as translated text being too long and displaying outside the display area. Thanks!

For the current workflow, OmegaT is still required.
CapLabWorkbench is not yet a complete replacement for OmegaT: it currently uses OmegaT projects, TMX memories, and existing translation files as part of the safe translation workflow.

The goal is not to remove OmegaT suddenly, but to build a safer layer around the translation process: protected marker validation, memory comparison, logs, segment-by-segment review, and controlled export.

The project is still under active improvement.
In the long term, the goal is for CapLabWorkbench to become more autonomous and to include an internal AI assistant able to help translators understand problems, compare memories, detect risky changes, suggest translations, and explain warnings.

AI will remain an assistant, not an automatic authority: the translator keeps final control.


This screenshot shows the main CapLab Workspace translation editor.
The translator can review one Capitalism Lab string at a time, compare it with OmegaT/TMX matches, keep protected markers such as [0001]<VERS> intact, and save or reject suggestions manually.
The goal is not blind automatic translation, but safer human-controlled translation with memory, logs, and marker validation.



CapLab Observer records events, warnings, launch attempts, and assistant context. It is designed to help explain what
happened during a session without silently changing translation files




CapLab Translate parses a Capitalism Lab file into rows. This makes it easier to compare source text, target preview,
memory matches, suggested translations, protected markers, and review status.


This screen shows the suggestion workflow. Memory, free translators, and optional local AI can provide suggestions, but the
translator decides whether to accept, edit, or ignore them.



The Sheet Retrieval tab loads existing translation pairs from the shared Sheet or XLSX file. The goal is to reuse validated
translations instead of copying them manually line by line.



CapLab Pad is a Notepad-like tool focused on Capitalism Lab translation files. It helps users find the relevant source and
target files inside the game folders more easily.



The Phrase Checker compares English source files, target language files, and shared memory. It helps find missing
translations, inconsistencies, and entries that need review.
