Currently, it seems that few mods in games focus on deepening the industrial chain; most tend to expand its breadth. For instance, a desktop computer should consist of three main components: the chassis, power supply, and motherboard. The motherboard, in turn, comprises the CPU, memory, and hard drive. Similarly, a smartphone should consist of the screen, motherboard, and battery, with the motherboard integrating the CPU and communication module.
Many products have the potential to deepen their development. The advantage of such depth is the lengthening of the industrial chain, which makes monopolization significantly more difficult—so difficult that it becomes nearly impossible for a single entity to monopolize the entire chain. This would alter strategic dynamics and allow players to gain a deeper understanding of an industry during gameplay.
Additionally, production equipment like lithography machines already exists as B2B products and could be utilized. Expanding breadth tends to cause a sharp increase in consumer demand, leading to reduced balance. In contrast, deepening development does not have this effect.
Currently, the production chains in games are not very logical either—it’s too easy to manufacture high-tech industries and major products like automobiles and home appliances.
