Raising Capital in Capitalism Lab – Tips Needed

Hi,
I’m kicking off a fresh run with a small food production setup and hitting a wall on timing the capital injections without wrecking my cash-flow. Banks are willing but the interest bites if I overdraw, and issuing shares feels tricky to get right without tanking the company value. Looking to keep control while moving fast enough to grab market share before the AI players run ahead. I’ve been poking around tools like
Gritt.io to help map out funding scenarios and cash-flow timing, anyone else have strategies that work consistently? How do you usually handle funding rounds in your runs? Any timing tricks or setups that consistently keep the balance between growth and cash?

Always a tricky situation. Here are some things I do to keep the money flowing:
- (In Banking and Finance DLC) I use bonds to borrow a large amount of money and often use more bonds to pay off the earlier ones if I run out of money or the bond term expires. This works as long as you can keep increasing your cashflow at a faster rate then the bond interest, so this is a high risk strategy.
- Temporary cutbacks of some expenses if money gets tight such as training and advertising. You can subsist for a while before issues start to emerge (like falling brand rating).
- I rarely issue shares, there is often no need to do this as reducing equity can lead to problems with others taking over (although if your company is very valuable this might not be a big deal).
But overall the key is to not expand too much, too early or if you do make sure you expand enough to justify all that expenditure on large factories, lots of advertising, etc.

That, or (my newest strategy): i grab EVERYTHING i can right at the beginning (max Loans, max Bonds), skip the early "start slowly, retail from seaport"-phase and go directly to R&D 6M with 1 or 2 R&D centers (cheapest city) and produce a mediocre product myself, push it via advertising, retail it via 2-3 retailshops, in best case can grab a bit more Loans and Bonds now, then R&D my product further with 6M/1Y-R&D and be big and profitable enough before the interest even can give me a headache.
In other words: you have to grow faster than the interest. And avoid a situation where you need money and no one wants to give it to you. That's the trick.
