Re: Add-on plan (new details)
David, I would like to ask is there a more specific time-table now regarding the beginning phase of the beta version? Thanks in advance.

Re: Add-on plan (new details)
I think the add-on should be packaged and sold as a beta of Capitalism 3 or at least market it as a new edition, Capitalism 2 Unlimited. It's all about marketing and this add-on does has enough new features to qualify as a new edition.

David,
don't you fear that with all these new "micro" additions suggested by players, the game will be too much detailed and too disorganized, and therefore less fun ?

Don't worry, suggestions are only for the purpose that people can live in the illusion that they are actually affecting the course of development, and therefore they can wait for eternity for the actual release if need be.

Re: Add-on plan (new details)
In general, we prefer elegant game design that brings new new strategic depth to the game without further increasing the complexity of the interfaces, which is already daunting to new players.
So far most of the new features implemented do not require the player to learn new interfaces in order to play. Most of the added interfaces are in the form of reports which the player only has to look at when they are interested.
All of you may suggest new features. We will see if there is any way to simply them and implement them in an elegant way.

Re: Add-on plan (new details)
If there won't be so many firms because of the specialization, the salaries of headquarters staff are excessively high. They were always too high if you ask me. I said this too in the numbered list.
If I remember right, the chief technical officer changes the RD unit's tech projects when he is assigned to RD firms after the projects have already been assigned by the player. It could be implemented so that he won't change those units that are already assigned, only ones that are not. The skill level bonus gained from assigning CTO could be applied when the units finish their current project and starts over, if it can't be done immediately.
The ability to rent very skilled employees (always level 9) would be cool. The difference is that it costs less in a short run (is there a short run in english lol) than training through the 'training slider' or HR program but they will be only one year contracts at a time for example and then game asks if player wants to continue the contract. It is practical in some situations like urgent RD needs.

Re: Add-on plan (new details)
David, so many of these add-ons that are proposed look so impressive, potentially adding so much to the overall gameplay -- I'm duly impressed!
I also would love to see some of the proposed improvements that harkkam suggests, in the first post in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=226
namely, #2, the ability to short stock (a la, Railroad Tycoon), #3, the option to split/reverse-split stock, and #4, the ability to lend money, as in a money market, competing with the game's banking feature.
Other things I'd love to see (realizing the integration of some features would be prohibitively difficult) include:
- The ability to insure facilities, or even to sell insurance on buildings, in games with the natural disaster options activated.
- Integration of annual proxies, perhaps with a dynamic approval rating from your board of directors.
- A wider range of "disasters," that might include product PR disasters (product loyalty plummets), or facility disasters with media attention (if a corporation is mine-heavy, perhaps, resulting in municipal fines).
- For non-scenario games, the option to have cities randomly chosen or user-determined, or a mix (say, if I wanted my hometown of Philadelphia to be in a game, and have the other three cities chosen at random).
Keep up the great work!

Re: Add-on plan (new details)
Im happy to buy i can't wait.It would be nice to have Campaigns like Capilasim 2 has but this one to have a normal one for Capitalism with all new features and another section to play only as a Central Bank with all the features.money supply, fiscal policies, spending, etc etc. That would be intresting.

Re: Add-on plan (new details)
Bought this game on disk about 10 years ago and bought digital version again recently. Now i am reading about all those new features in addon and just can't wait to try it out! Had one question though - are there going to be new character and company icons? Or will it be possible to change them manually? I think that aesthetics are important and those "generic" "sim-ish" portraits always bugged me :/
