I also have random crashouts, usually when selecting products to purchase for stores or factories. They're sometimes reproduceable, and sometimes not.

I'm also playing on XP service pack 3.

Version 2.0 has been released. You may upgrade to it.

I am playing on V2.0 I mean the occasional, random CTD mentioned by the OP appears to still be an issue for some systems even in the latest build. I'll see if I can catch a savegame, but since it's random it's not easy - sometimes it's replicable, sometimes not.
