Just throwing it out there, but I think that its a great idea, however, a few suggestions:

1. They need to be on a 1x1 square. Given how all other retail works in scale, it makes sense for fast food being small, but a very prolific, competitive market.

2. Consider scaling down what they can sell. There are probably a number of things that can be sold (probably up to 10-15 kinds of various items), so it may make sense to limit what they can sell to maybe 2-3 items per store vs. the standard 4 that a retail/convenience store can.

3. Branding needs to be store-wide instead of product specific.

4. Other than the mentioned suggestions for items, I would go with what we see in the American fast food market:

French Fries (Potatoes + Oil)
Fried Chicken (Chicken + Flour)
Tacos (Cheese/Milk + Beef + Corn/Flour)
Sub (Flour + Veggies + Meat)
Pizza (Flour + Veggies + Meat)

As well as the aforementioned steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, eggs, soda, milk, and the like. I think it'd be great.

Additionally, you could always consider other types of micro-businesses that aren't retail/wholesale businesses, which would be cheaper, but also offer great outlets for people that focus on factory production.

Such as:

Tire & Lube Shops (oil, tires, ect)
Vending Machines (Snacks)

Just an idea..

Take into consideration that this would require implementing new items like potatoes, cheese or veggies. I'm not saying it's not possible, but tried to give an idea based on what we have in the game now, so that it could be introduced asap.
