Immediate Crash trying to launch game

Post by bdubbs »

Greetings!

I bought a new desktop PC a few months back and tried downloading Cap Lab for the first time tonight and was unable to get beyond the login screen after installing the game. After clicking the login button a small black window begins to open and then immediately crashes. When trying to run in forced full screen mode the full screen momentarily goes black before the game crashes. I'm left with no error messages.

After searching the forum I've tried a few different remedies:

Ran compatibility mode for 2 two different windows xp versions, as well as windows 7 and 8.
Enabled the high DPI setting in compatibility mode
ran the game as an administrator while trying the compatibility modes
added the game to my firewall's exception list
temporarily disabled my firewall alotogether
made sure I had the most recent version of directX
tried reinstalling the game
tried running in forced full screen mode in each compatibility

Any suggestions for other remedies I can try?

You may try the following solutions:

1) Right-click on the Capitalism Lab icon to open the properties window.
2) Select the “Compatibilities” tab and check the Windows XP Compatibility option.
3) Enable the option "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings."
4) Enable the option "Run this program as an administrator."
5) Enable the option “Run in 640x480 screen resolution”
6) Run the game.

Once in the main menu of the game, you can then select any resolution that is available (either full screen or windowed) as the game is actually not limited by the 640x480 setting.
