Concerns with this DLC

Post by pkoko »

First, I am very grateful that this game is still being worked on. It is great to have a real business simulation still in development but....

I am not happy with some latest changes in this DLC particularly R&D centers....

I feel standard R&D center should be automatically staffed with "average" workers. The Talent "guys" should only be available as one person per R&D center. And they aren't necessary but greatly improve research speed. This should act as CTO bonus to that R&D center and only to techs that are their specialty. Finally, those "guys" should be available nation wide and will change locations for $$$ and if the city has good conditions.

Right now, it is impossible to speed up in R&D regardless of how much resources we pour in it.... This is unrealistic

My other concern is with Telecomm companies.... Why when I build a second building to increase capacity of network.... don't the capacity get merged with older network? I feel those firms should be a citywide thing.

Thanks

Amen!!!
I Agree that the talent system is awful the way it is implanted now.
A specialist must be a "extra" but not necessary.

At this moment i work in a software company,
when by "lead developer" leaves teh company. The product will be still in development,
We can work for months (or even years) without replacement.
And Yes, it will speed up the process of development. But we can without a lead developer.

You may choose the "Greatly Simplified" setting for the talent system, as shown in the attached screenshot.

This way, your specialists will never leave your company once you have hired them and you will never to have to worry about losing productivity with your R&D due to departures of your specialists.

Hi David,
(tested with and without the city economics dlc)

I know that this option is available. But why not use the full system, and add "without talent" to the talent list (unlimited usage)

In the "real world" mod there are more than 700 products.
But not enough talents be research every product in the game.

yes there are talents available, but in some product classes to much.
When i play with 10 cities, i got 10x9 talants (9 per city, for every product class).
For telecom services or flowers, there is just one product for R&D, so 9x9 talents are useless for me.

But for Semi products i got a little bit more. but some sectors as "cars", "food", "beverage", "snacks" and "clothes" i still got 10x9 talents.
In all of the product classes above, there are far more products available than 10. So a there is a shortage of talents.

The talents get not replenished when the amount of talents reaches the 0, also not after a few years.
So for some products i don't get any R&D and my tech stays at 0.

And even when i manage to get all the available talents in a game, the competitors will have 0.
So the game will be far to easy that way. (not mush fun without any challenge)

Do i need to be market-leader in every product?
Of-course, who does not want to be an "Evil CEO that controls the world" (just kidding, there is a script in "Raal World" with a goal the dominate everymarket"

It is fun to steal talents from competitors, but in a late stage of the game there must be some action.
When i want 100% of the talents, i then I expect that there are 9 talents available for every product.
When i want 200% of the talents, i then I expect that there are 18 talents available for every product.
(and not the total amount of talents, really the available talents for that product class)

Did you mean "without limit"? Did you mean basically providing a unlimited supply of talents for this option?

Have you tried the 200% more talent option? Did you still experience serious shortage of supply of talents?

Do you think adding script support to allow for increasing up to 500% more talents will offer a remedy to this?

Hi David.
I will provide you a savegame within a day the give you an impression.

But Yes, 500% will be a fix. (but the problem is just for a few product classes)

We will increase the upper limit to 500% in the next patch.
