Different Investment Types
How do you "start" a type of investment, like media, real estate, etc...I can only invest when I see someone else has started that. What exactly is that and how do I start one up?

Can you rephrase your question? I will try to answer if I understand your question correctly...
When you purchase stock of a company it is called an "investment" (for the sake of discussion, forget about real life technical terms trading/investing).
The game classifies "investments" (you owning stock in a company) based on the type of company it is. If you buy 300 shares in company X that owns exclusively media firms, the game will probably classify this as a media based investment.
